~Wine or Whine~
Lorian: Night finally came but at no point was it quiet..People were still outside fixing what was destroyed, men had been tirelessly dragging the corpses of both soldier and civilian out of the street and placed them on a pyre but inside the Keep was oddly serene, the walls were draped with gorgeous artwork of the Castellan household...Some depicting battles and others with the leaders with their families smiling quite happily. Torches illuminated the dark hallways as soldiers would stand guard..There was a sense of uneasy tension between..Well everyone..Upon getting to the large wooden door Elle would be let in as one of the soldiers opened it for her in which the room had been set up as if for a King..Whilst the oak table in the middle was moderate of size the cloth and cutelry in which were on were pure silver, engraved oddly enough with waves up the handle. Crimson cloth draped the table with sigils of both the Empire and House Castellan embroided up the sides in collums as the outside was a bright silver lacing..Chairs on opposite sides of the table had been placed, with a whole variety of food in the middle from chicken, turkey and oddly enough beef to steamed vegetables..Two empty wine glasses had been placed in the middle as the other most noteable thing was violin music being played from the belcony..Revealing Lorian. He was finally dressed in a fine black attire, overcoat and all washed..Not a single speck of dirt on his form.
Esylana: Elleinad was dressed in a fine gown, to be sure, and elegantly wrought jewelry of gold hung around her neck in the same of leafy vines - it complimented the jewelry set that was in her blonde hair. She was a truly ravishing sight, but...her face did not hold the same smile it had always held. There was no flirting, there was no smiles, there was no playful intrigue that said she owned the world and the world owed her for owning it. No, this night, she was almost as grim as everyone else. She approached the table, and stood at it, looking across at Lorian, not as Empress, but as a woman. She did not speak first, she would let him speak. After all, he had suffered some great losses on this day. A thought that didn't seem to settle well with her. Oh, her head was still held high, that inborn pride was not something you could hide. But she wasn't as arrogant tonight. The candlelight and music only seemed to soften her appearance all the more. "..."
Lorian: The music came to a halt as his sapphire orbs finally came across to her but he didn't speak just yet..Thinking of the words he wanted to say about this situation before finally his voice came out to be one of gentle nature* "You look beautiful...But I do owe you an apology, regardless of what i've discovered and my situation..You shouldn't have had the brunt of my rage..All I know is that there is more to Esylana and yourself then either of you are letting on..So tonight..Just this night..All I request..Is honesty..You may ask me anything and i'll answer without hesitation.." He shifted around the table as he'd then pull out one of the chairs, his left hand coming out to gesture for her to sit.
Esylana: She did sit, slowly, straight backed, and allowed herself to move in closer to the table. She settled, wine was poured, some food offered, and as this was all being done, Elleinad began rather simply, "I can't tell you how...sad I am that this came about this way. This was not the welcome I wanted you to come home to...the people of Valanice have mine, and the Empire's support. Any funds you need to rebuild, simply ask, and they will be granted without hesitation..." She paused to take a sip of the wine, her blue eyes lowered to the table, before she set the glass aside. "So you brought Esylana in...that is good, I was...getting worried...what has she told you, then, Lorian Castellan?"
Lorian: "I believe that you didn't want this situation to occur..But it has..My sacrifice is one that those loyal to me will remember..The offer is grateful and you'll find that i'll take in in due time but for the moment..Anthem will rebuild on it's own." He'd state as he took a gentle sip of the wine before adding "You're not of this world..Esylana informed me of alot..The fact you possesed her and people thought she was insane due to the constant struggle between you both, she's unaware of how you ended up here but according to her you're obsessed with power..That isn't all but it's a start..She also informed me that she found a prophecy but was manipulated into releasing a vortex that swallowed the gods, magic..Other..Things..So..She claims to have stopped the birth of something called..The Third son."
Esylana: "...The Third Child..." Elle sighed. It was a withering sigh. An -exhausting- sigh. Clearly, this was not something she had been wanting to hear. "...Yes, the Third Child...it is a ...a thing, that exists. Or would..." She slowly leans back in her chair, appraising Lorian for a long moment before coming to a conclusion, the resolve of it slowly moving through her beautiful face.
"Somewhere, in one of my journals, I have the prophesies written...I saved them...they were burned in my memory, for so long...I was born long before the woman you know, Esylana, in that world of Aegara and...I was a part of her ancestors, or rather, her guild's ancestors, the Naldareth. We were tasked to be...Guardians, if you will. It was...not all it was cracked up to be. Rules, and regiments. Layers and...hierarchy. We practiced our elemental prowess, and researched and studied, all to stay vigilant against the Third Child's coming. And the Second, as well..." She closes her eyes briefly, rubbing her temple before she continued. "One of the rare talents, something that was very hard to do, was practice of the Sight. Vision. To look across the Sands of Time and see the multiple paths. And as a youth, as young as I was, I Saw. No one believed me, but I Saw. I Saw how we would fail. How we would become -weak-. And fail our charge to Aegara. And so I tried to gather power. If one is strong, they can stand against the darkness."
She scowled darkly, laughing coldly. "I stretched too far, however, and my own soul fell into the staff I wielded. And when I woke, I was...in -her-. But...I couldn't have that happen. I needed to be free, and I still wanted to stop the Third. For I learned the Second came and nearly destroyed what we had worked to establish..." She trails off, a hard look in her blue eyes. There's hatred there. It's undeniable. There's a bitterness there. "I don't do things without a purpose, but I've found being weak, or gentle, or -kind-? That gets people killed...that gets WORLDS killed..."
Elleinad looked at Lorian then, standing slightly as she motioned to the hallway. "She set off a -volcano-. She destroyed countless lives, because she cared, all for the sake of "goodness". Lorian Castellan, you of all people should know that's not how the world functions." She points at herself, a fire in her eyes, the rage tangible. "I'm a monster, yes. But I'm not -wasteful-. I don't do things by -accident-. If the Third Child is still a threat, then I am still working to avert It's coming...-THAT- is why the magic isn't free, -THAT- is why I maintain this Empire, and -THAT-...is why I am here." She brought a hand to her mouth suddenly, to hide the tremble in her lip. She was angry, embarrassed. It's almost as if this was not information she'd wanted to readily share.
Lorian: His back straightened in his chair as he listened but no emotion or expression came over his face, he simply..Listened to her rant and at the end of it the man gave her what could be considered..A sympathetic look. His hand came down against the arms of his chair as she covered her mouth and Lorian instantly spoke "You're rather cute when you're embarrassed.." His fingers pressed through a chestnut lock that had covered his sapphire hues as he finally spoke, but his voice wasn't one of disbelief but simple and outright..Understanding. "You're single handedly the most brilliant woman i've ever had the pleasure of meeting..But..I understand.." He gazed into her own hues as he spoke "Became a monster to stop others from going that far..Went to lengths that no other would dare tread in order to protect everything you had established..Only to add that at such a young age you could see countless lives being torn away.."
A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he shook his head gently, wine being gulped down as he'd speak once more "Elle..You've come so far to stop so much but..I think I was aware of the burden you had placed on yourself all this time..Loyal..I think it's time you stopped walking a path like this alone and started walking it with those who'd not only understand you but listen to you..Esylana was wasteful..But the Third isn't something you have to fight on your own any longer.." He stated with a gentle cough "Something that threatens my world..Will be dealt with accordingly.." Lorian glanced around the place before softly speaking.
"We're being honest..So I'll be honest with you..When I came to you that day in Cyranos, regarding Esylana and we went to the Void Crystal..When my experiment failed I had noticed something akin to despair in you but you lit up like a clear night sky when I informed you that I knew where the leylines were located.." He looked directly at her again "I didn't obtain Esylana for her actions..I didn't obtain her for the Empire..I tore through a creature claiming to be the Father of All Vampires..Just so I could see a shred of happiness and satisfaction in your eyes.." He'd take another sip of the wine as he relaxed further in his chair "Satisfaction is something i've sought after..Ever since my mother passed..Power is something that I not only desire but..Crave..For it's the only way for me to bring about peace and order..Elle.." He stated softly, her name was delicate on the tongue "Elle..You need listen to what I have to say..It's time for change..The Empire you have is breaking apart..It needs to change..But the most important thing here? Is that you understand that you no longer require to fight this on your own.."
Esylana: Elleinad slowly sank into the chair again, as if talking about it all had worn her out, but in spite of that weariness, she still sat tall. She sipped at her wine again, before slowly nodding. "...It's why I asked you to help me..." She silently stared at the table. "I see now that this Empire is crumbling...I need...more strength, than what I have...the man we call 'Emperor'...isn't cutting it." She sighed, closing her eyes. "There most certainly needs to be a change...but I can't instigate that change until things are realigned...until the Order is reestablished..." She looked at Lorian, a softer look on her face. "If you have Esylana, and if you truly want to help me, and this Empire...then finish it...I have Elementium shackles she'll need to wear, that will seal the power so it doesn't run free for anyone to access...they will turn the new Master Crystal into a sealed vessel that only those who attune to it will have access, much like our Void Crystal...you'll have to re-attune to it, as will I. So would the Emperor...if we let him..." She trails off, the darker meaning of her words becoming clearer.
Lorian: "No." Lorian stated in a rather abrupt tone "This isn't a matter of re-establishing an order..If you attempt to do anything of the sorts, you won't have an Empire left.." He stated as a tone of factuality before leaning back in his seat "Where are these shackles?" He'd ask softly still staring at her "If you desire to have this done..Then we do it..My way.."
Esylana: "I have them in Cyranos...they cannot be put on her until we are ready to finish the ritual...she would finish the leylines, and then have to go to the center of Rembrant. The Hall of Kings. Where all the leylines intersect. That is where the ritual would be most stable, and the chance for a successful Master Crystal, complete..." She pursed her lips, looking at him. It was a look that was hard to read. Her vulnerability was gone. She extended a hand to him. "Do it your way, then...but I will hold the shackles. When you are ready to make the Master Crystal, I will meet you at the Hall of Kings and we will finish it together..."
Lorian: Lorian kept a blank stare at her as he simply responded "Change the Empire first...Then we do it.." The man brought the liquid to his lips once again.
Esylana: "...I'll consider it." She said. It wasn't...cold. It wasn't enthusiastic. It wasn't...as if she were saying it placatingly. She was simply saying it. And after a moment, she finally rose. Dinner was done. "I will be in Cyranos if you need me." And before he would have a chance to respond, she had swept out of the room. And he would find that she was leaving that night. She would not stay in Valanice.

I've tried to live my life by a few simple rules...
* You don't waste your resources.
* Anything can be a resource, you simply have to put it to good use.
* And when a man asks you to dinner, you don't give him everything.
I might have messed up on that last one tonight. As I sit here, far from mortal or animal, staring out at those distant stars, I can't help but think that I should've destroyed him, finished razing that city, and taken her then and there.
But as I told him, I -am- a monster. I know I am, and it's too late to go back now. I accepted that a long time ago when I tried to bring the Naldareth to their knees. But my Vision was sprawling and terrifying. It didn't just destroy Aegara, the Third Child would devour -all- the realms. If it comes to be, as it surely must, in another realm, it is only a matter of time before it comes here. Sniffing for the power, hungry for the magic, for life, for death, for the Ouroboros. Eternity indeed.
I didn't -ask- to be a villain. No one does, do they? But at least I'm not a moron who stumbles into her disasters on accident. I don't hate Esylana for what she stands for. I hated her at first because I didn't have a body, and I was fighting her for control. But now? That doesn't matter. I hate her because she doesn't understand what she's doing. Magic is restricted to the few, because if too many have it, then it attracts unwanted attention.
You'd think Esylana would've learned that by now - especially after the...Globe of Balance, it was called? Was shattered. It alerted far darker beings than the Kerrithrim to the people of Aegara. I'm not stupid, she had a hand in it all. She's -wasteful-. And I hate waste.
I'm taking those shackles when I get back, and I am putting them where no one will find them. When it is time, I will ensure her "sacrifice" is not wasted.
